It is with great pleasure that I can announce to the department that the General
William T. Sherman/Billy Yank Camp #65 of St. Louis, Mo. has reached the
milestone of a 25th Anniversary as a camp within the Sons of Union Veterans of
the Civil War.
It is also with pleasure that on their twenty-fifth anniversary they are still a
strong, active and vibrant camp. Predating the modern Department of Missouri,
at least two other camps have directly grown from their roots and these camps
have yielded at least three more camps.
Therefore, it is the first order of this department, that we recognize the
accomplishments of this camp and their long term service to the department.
This will be accomplished by the department webmaster placing words to this
effect on the home page of the Department of Missouri: “Honoring the Gen.
William T. Sherman/Billy Yank Camp #65 of St. Louis for 25 years of service to
the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and the memory of all Union
soldiers.”
This order will take effect as soon after the period of mourning for Brother
Flynn is over (June 19) that the webmaster can put it up on the website and
will remain in effect throughout 2007.
Three Huzzahs from the Department Commander to the Sherman Camp.
